REMEMBERING MICHAEL….

June 26, 2009

remem mike copy

Today, a shocking news was felt and spread in the entire world— THE KING OF POP IS DEAD. Michael Jackson died at at the age of 50. Trying to make a comeback to the industry that has been very good to him. Sadly, he wasn’t able to do so.

I don’t consider myself to be a big fan of him today ( I was into grunge / alternative stuff  now ) but I was once when I was a kid. Those are the times when his albums spawned hits after hits and all the local radios are playing his songs all through the day. I am a kid that grew up on those times. Dancing and watching his videos and awed as he perform those trademark moves.

Michael Jackson is perhaps the most well known musical figure ever to graced the world. His achievements as an artist is second to none. His Thriller album is still considered the best selling album of all time generating a sales of about 109 million copies sold. The album also won a record 7 Grammy Awards. He was perhaps the world’s best selling pop artist of all time. He is a forerunner of a generation known as Generation X ( I myself included ).

His influence was never ending. Its spreads in every corner of the globe. Here in the Philippines, we remember him as the influence behind some of our american-oriented culture. During the 80′s, the Philippine show business is largely Michael Jackson-like. Remember the local movie Bagets ? The term coincide with the fashion and behavior of that time. The Bagets impact was so huge that it was a mainstay in whole 80′s time. Our very own Gary V. is one of the most notable example of Michael’s influence on our artists.

Although Michael has wonderful career, he didn’t escaped the bad side of that fame. He was viewed as an example of a bad plastic surgery. He was accused of trying to become a a caucasian when he was really black. He defended that it was due to skin disease called Vitiligo. There are also those child molesting cases that made him a regular favourite of the feasting media, looking and anticipating when he will really go down. Although all the charges was either dropped or he was acquitted, the impact of the accusations really made its toll. He is still well known but his career was a damaged one. He went into seclusion thereon, avoided the glittering lifestyle he was accustomed with, moved to Bahrain where he befriended a Bahraini prince only to go back to America to pay tribute to the death of James Brown.

As of this moment a lot of tribute was bestowed to him. How he single handedly changed the course of entertainment industry worlwide. How this and that…blah blah blahh…This really what made me laugh. Because just moments ago before his death was announced to the world, people seems to think differently about him. Whenever they hear Michael Jackson, it always comes to their mind that this is the guy that was accused of these and that. The guy that changed his color into this. The guy that was the result of a failed plastic surgery.Yes, they knew about his achievements and contributions yet they seems to think that he is the bad guy here.

How many people especially on the press have destroyed him because of their writings? And now they are in the frontline paying tributes to him. Very odd. I think the guy deserved these accolades more in his lifetime. It always happen that they only remember how valuable a person is when that person left this world.

To you Michael…Thanks for the memories and for your contribution to the world.

Why Hayden Kho will not succeed in becoming a PORN ACTOR?

May 22, 2009

haydenkatbelo Countless people are requesting for the links and for the videos itself in emails and forums. Up to now, the Hayden Kho sex videos are the box office hits in the blogging community and video sharing sites. Until recently, I was puzzled on why did Dr. Hayden Kho filmed his encounters with these women. Then I began to think that maybe he have some intuition or ambition to become a porn actor. Maybe he pictured himself as a Peter North or a Lexington Steel of the pornography world. So what the hell was he thinking now? Well I believe maybe Hayden Kho is “quite happy” with some turn of events. First, he was able to slightly realize his dream of becoming a porn actor. Second, he is an instant celebrity now. The whole country knew him as he was the Face of the News these past few days. Third, he was able to lure these beautiful women into bed with him. And Fourth, he was able to accomplish these (mis)feats through his good looks and frame.

Wow… looks like a new porn actor is on the rise. ..

Well…not really. As I watched Hayden videos, I have found some reasons that might possibly deny him a place in the adult industry. Hehehe.

First- Hayden was not blessed with a huge weaponry down there. Most A or B-list porn actors have the blessing on that part. It is the most important asset for a succesful porn actor. Comparing to his body-built and frame, I wonder why he have such a small ___?

Second– Sex STAMINA. I have discovered that Hayden Kho does not have the neccessary sex stamina to maintain through out the sex scene. He was way too quick in reaching the climax–most probably, a couple of minutes after insertion. And he easily get tired after the rounds too.

Third- He does not have a wide knowledge on sex positions. He keeps on doing the same routine which is way under-par from the Real porn star.

THE VERDICT—-Forget about becoming a Porn Actor. Stick to your profession as a Doctor.

But what will you do then if the PRC decided to revoke your license as a Doctor.? Well, thats your problem. Hehehehe.

P.S.

Gotcha! You are in “Hayden” Camera!!

Alleged vidshot of the pervert, Hayden Kho, with Maricar Reyes

As  the alleged sex videos of Hayden Kho involving different women spreads like bushfire, curiosity came to me on what these videos really are. So I immediately searched for it in the internet. Fortunately, I was able to watch them (and download them) before  the authorities can block these sites. After an almost eternity of  traffic and waiting, I was able to get the copies.

Well its kinda funny, because in my opinion, Hayden is a extremely lucky guy since he was able to lure these ladies into bed, inspite of the fact that he was not blessed with a huge weaponry down there. Hehehe. And for what I heard, he had a library of 40 sex videos involving different women. Wow!! What a lucky pervert!

Unfortunately for him, his luck is running out. His magical charms and tricks are now off the cliffs. His own Karma is right at the door, waiting to knock him out..hehehe..Lets wait a few more days and see what the government would do againts this lucky pervert. Will they really revoke his medical license and proceed with the filing of charges againts him?

As the saying goes…” Not everyday is a Christmas Day!”  and “Matakot ka sa Karma!”

THE NEVER-ENDING MOCKERY OF FILIPINOS. Do we really deserved it?

May 20, 2009

baldwin hatcher tsao danes2

Another incident of an insensitive remark  toward our race is on the papers again. This time it involved an A-list actor Alec Baldwin. His derogatory statement during his interview in the Late Show with David Letterman wherein he jokingly mentioned of finding himself a filipina mail-order bride has received a wide reaction from the filipino community all over the world.. “I think about getting a Filipino mail-order bride at this point or a Russian one, I don’t care, I’m 51,” Baldwin told Letterman.

Unfortunately this is not the first time that we received such racist statements. Just last March, a Hongkong columist Chip Tsao wrote an article wherein he called the philippines “the land of slaves “. Before that Hollywood actress Teri Hatcher also questioned the medical certificates of filipino doctors on her show Desperate Housewives. Then, British show Harry & Paul ridiculed a Filipina maid as a sex symbol. There is also actress Claire Danes who claimed that Manila is a city of rats and it has ugly people based on her experience while shooting a film in the capital back then.

Time and again this racist remarks goes on without end and I believe it won’t end. As we pinoys continously  makes strong condemnation and resounding assertion of our dignity in every incident, we should also look on the real perspective side of the situation. Are we being labelled incorrectly?

Unlike the previous  derogatory statements from Chip Tsao, Teri Hatcher or Claire Danes which really made me enraged and infuriated, this one makes me just shove my shoulders since there is an undeniable truth. We cannot ignore the facts that there are lapses on our government and to our citizens as well. For instance, when you look up at Google and searched for a keyword mail order bride, gradually you will come across hundreds of sites that mentioned filipinas (ACTUALLY THEY ARE THE MOST IN-DEMAND). Even in the sites that offer sex on cam or internet sex, you would found that in the asian pages, filipinas are the primary sex objects there. Before the age of the internet, filipinas are already known as the most sought-after especially in korea and western countries. There is a truth in every aspect of this issue. We should not be hypocrites and ignore the facts. A lot of filipinas have dreamt of marrying a foreigner to escape poverty. Some pinays although well educated and well-offs yet prefer foreigners on the notion that western men are handsome with pointed noses..etc. It is a stereotype that people with white skin are indeed beautiful.

Actually this is a very old issue. The bad thing is we as a race are being labelled as such because of the behavior of the few. We might blame the government for its inefficiency but as the real issue is being dealt, we have our own faults. Our women can be found in the internet sex trade, in japan as japayukis, in dubai clubs, in macau clubs and streets, in korea’s red light district and in mail-order bride. I happen to be one of the OFWs who have personally seen the deteriorating image of our women. In this City where I worked, its a natural scene to see a kabayan lady with a foreigner roaming the mall, streets and even in the clubs. Some of the men looks too old for the ladies as if she was their own daughter. When I came here  first time I usually see chinese or russian ladies with foreign men but now everything  has changed. A filipina with another nationality is common sight to see.

Who should be blamed?  The government maybe. Or maybe our own intrepretation of  an easy way to get out of poverty. Or maybe our own stereotype that everything imported are good.

DEMOCRACY IS DYING IN BURMA…THE WORLD MUST ACT!!

May 18, 2009

FRANCE MYANMAR

When I was small, I learned in school about Aung San Suu Kyi and Burma. Her fearless battle to change the dictatorship of the military junta that has been ruling Burma for decades. Now that I have grown up, I still found out that nothing changed in this impoverished country eversince.

In 1990 the ruling Military Junta decided to call for a National Election. Aung San Suu Kyi’s party, National League for Democracy, won decisively. Being the NLD’s candidate, Aung San Suu Kyi under normal circumstances would have assumed the office of Prime Minister. Instead, the results were nullified, and the military refused to hand over power. This resulted in an international outcry. Aung San Suu Kyi was placed under house arrest at her home. Up to this day she is still being held on and off  under house arrest. She is supposed to be released in May 27 but an incident happened. It involved an American who swam to her residence to meet her, became the basis of the Military governmnet to cancel her release and charged her for violating  the conditions of her house arrest. If  found guilty, she will have to spend another 5 years not in house arrest but in Insein prison, one of  Burma’s notorious. I believe that the Military junta is just making excuses to keep  Suu Kyi in prison.

The Military Junta has been in power in Burma for decades, suppressing any liberties there, controlling all censorship and destroying the whole idea of democracy. In my opinion having an iron hand in some policies of the government is allright but what is happening in Burma gradually affected the economy, the living conditions of the citizens and most off all the corruption in the government.  The selected few in the position of power have benefited a lot already. I believe the whole world must act now.. not by words but by action. ASEAN, in which Burma is a member, have to decide on putting pressure into the Military Junta. Although ASEAN is limited by the policy of non-interference regarding each countries domestic problems and policies (ASEAN WAY), they have to carve a solution to pressure the junta.

I remember one Burmese friend of mine in 2005 who once asked a question to himself on why there is really no strong international action regarding the Burma issue. He said that unlike Iraq or Afganistan, here the US has no direct benefit to let its country be dragged into Burma’s problem.

Now I began to think that maybe….maybe there is really no mutual benefit for the US or the Western Countries. But does it mean that ASEAN as well has that kind of  thinking ?

On Martin Nieverra’s National Anthem Rendition.

May 7, 2009

martin-nieverra1

Concert King Martin Nievera’s  rendition of our National Anthem during the Pacquiao vs. Hatton bout was faced with criticism in several sectors notably from the National Historical Institute. A possible  case is also being lobbied againts him from one congressman, Rep.Elpidio Barzaga of Cavite, in violation of R.A. 8491 or the Flag and Heraldic Act. The NHI, the government agency tasked to ensure that national symbols are given the reverence and respect they deserve, said Nievera should not have slowed down the song’s opening and ending. The NHI added the singer should have sung the entire song in accordance with composer Julian Felipe’s “march-type” tempo.

Although Mr. Nieverra really sang it  very emotionally, I believe those kind of renditions should be reserved on other songs not on our National Anthem. I respect Martin as an artist and he was one of my favorite balladeers our country has ever produced but what he had done  to our National Anthem is wrong. Its not just wrong because it should be sang according to composer Julian Felipe’s tempo but because Mr. Martin is an icon looked upon by the youths and masses. Our National Anthem is identical to our own definition of a Filifino just like our Flag. We cannot just alter our Flag and use it anywhere and for anything we want. Same thing, we cannot just do our own renditions on our Anthem or edit it. Before this incident, there are a lot more celebrities who sang our National Anthem according to their preferences. This gave a wrong impression to the people that what they are doing are right since no actions are being done from our agencies.

This is not a concert where you can just do your own rendition on a revival song. If it is alright to render our National Anthem incorrectly means it is also okay to sing it in a rock or rap method. Imagine “Lupang Hinirang in Rock Metal Version” or “Lupang Hinirang – Remixed Version “.

PACMAN.. YOU MAKE US ALL PROUD!

May 3, 2009

_pacquiao_hatton

With the recent win of our very own Manny Pacquiao againts Ricky Hatton, the whole nation of Philippines once again felt that somewhere beyond our suffferings in this hard times one man rays hope and joy among us. Manny has just set a record of being a champion in 6 different weights division. Only one other man has ever done that—-Oscar De La Hoya, whom Pacquiao defeated last December and forced him into retirement. And with this achievement, his name will be among the greatest boxers who ever set foot on the ring.

Manny, who started his career as a mere 112 pounder, now has moved and dominated every division he fought in. His second round devastation of Ricky Hatton yesterday proves that Manny Pacquiao is a man of action and not just a man of words. He is still humble and respectful to his fallen foes giving them credit as well. It really hard to find a succesful man that maintains a clean life and not let sucess get to his head. I am saying this because I began to thinks of other fighters whom always talks and self claimed themselves as a great fighter and then trash-talk about other fighters. This what really set Manny Pacquiao different from them. He let his boxing skills do the talking in the ring and he never comment bad about any fighter. He respect every fighter’s skill and give what is due to them.

Our country has always been into a lot of bad limelights such as corruptions, scandals, crime, poverty, disunity among us and many more. The whole world have heard of it a lot in the news here and abroad. Because of these things we somethimes ask ourselves  Are we still proud being a Filifino? Yet over the horizon lies a glimpse of hope that not all are bad about our country. Manny Pacquiao is one fine example of good things that we should be proud of.  He  is the news that makes me proud whenever I hear or read it in the internet or newspaper. With this attitude of Manny, it really make me proud that I am a Filifino. Not because he just set a record or  he is popular, it is because Manny has just showed to the world the true nature of being a Filifino—fighting with all his heart yet keeping humble.

THANK YOU MANNY FOR SHOWING THE WORLD WHAT A FILIFINO REALLY IS..

No one should be Exempted

May 1, 2009

As the swine flu reached Asia with Hongkong having its first confirmed case of the disease, It is now probable what danger our country philippines is in. Because of the Ricky Hatton – Manny Pacquiao fight, a lot of our honorable congressmen left the country to watch the bout personally in Las Vegas. The State of Nevada, where Las Vegas is located, have already confirmed case of infection with H1N1 influenza A virus. With this i strongly support the Department of Health’s statement that upon these congressmen’s return, they will undergo routine  screening and quarantine. Well no one should be exempted since the risk of infecting the general population is on the line. I believe even the President herself  ( she left for Egypt) should be screened too. I commend Manny Pacquiao for voluntarily offering himself to be screened upon his return to the country. Nevertheless, Good Luck MANNY! Hope you win this one and write history by tying Oscar De la Hoya as the only two men to win recognized world championships in six weight classes.

Swine Flu..A new pandemic of the modern time?

April 29, 2009

swine-imagefull1

The Swine flu epidemic has been all over the news this past few days and it still continously spreading across several territories. As of this writing, the World Health Organization has raised the Pandemic alert index of the new strain of Swine flu into phase 4. That is 2 steps short of declaring full pandemic in a global scale.

I am not a health authority that is why i would like to decline commenting about the virus cause, roots and characteristics as well as its treatments and preventions to avoid giving incorrect information about the virus. Nevertheless, I will give my inbouts and say regarding this fearful epidemic and how it is being regarded the world over.

A pandemic is a term used to define a case of a certain infectious disease that spreads uncontrollably through population across a certain region, most notably a continent or worldwide. Since the Swine virus has already spread to several countries, many scientist and experts have dubbed it as the new pandemic of the modern time. Some expert have also mentioned that the disease has been overdue. This is primarily because the virus has been present with us long before. And only through a longer period of being present that it was able to mutate into a new strain. This mutated new strain was found resistant to vaccines available ( fortunately the virus reportedlly appears to be vulnerable to antiviral drugs like Tamiflu ). But it takes more than a new virus spreading among humans to make a pandemic. The virus has to be able to spread efficiently from one person to another, and transmission has to be sustained over time and geographically.

Hence the WHO has set its guidelines on how to classify a certain infectious disease by its impact and transmission. That is through a 6-phase pandemic alert more relatively known as EPR or Epidemic and Pandemic Alert and Response. Stage 1 refers to INTER-PANDEMIC STAGE whereas new virus is found in animals but no  reported human case.  Stage 2 is also an inter-pandemic phase but there is higher risk of human cases. Stage 3 is a PANDEMIC ALERT status wherein no or very limited human-to-human transmission. Stage 4 is another pandemic stage status but shows higher evidence of increased human-to-human transmission. Stage 5 is a PANDEMIC STATUS with evidence of significant human-to-human transmission. The 6th Stage is the highest stage alert wherein the disease is already considered Pandemic since it has a efficient and sustained human-to-human transmission. Currently the outbreak of the swine flu is on the move outside Mexico as it already dwelted its first fatality in the United States. Just as the whole world is beginning to recover slowly from the impact of the global recession, this outbreak came to add woes.

Unlike the previous outbreak cases of this 21th century like SARS and the Bird Flu, this one was elevated to the 4th Pandemic Stage by the WHO. With the way the virus behave, it was feared that it might reach higher stage in the coming days. The more recent illnesses and the reported deaths suggest that a pattern of more severe illness associated with this virus may be emerging. Most people will not have immunity to this new virus and, as it continues to spread, more cases, more hospitalizations and more deaths are expected in the coming days and weeks.

We just hope and pray that like SARS and Bird Flu, it will come to past and we again can defeat this threat before it become worse and  a PANDEMIC in global scale.

Filipino Seafarers’ Ordeal

April 26, 2009

gulf-of-aden-map

Its very sad that our seafarers are the object and the ones primarily affected by the hijacking of  ships along the Gulf of Aden. Since Filifino seafarers makes up one-third of the whole world’s shipping manpower, they are the most prone to pirates’ attacks. As an OFW myself, i can relate to these people’s ordeal. They accepted jobs that are very risky, although well paid, because their own country cannot provide them jobs that will be enough to support their families. I said risky since our government was powerless in this kind of situation. Our own Navy are very ill-equipped that it cannot afford even to match up with the pirates. With just one frigate, several corvettes and mostly patrol crafts, considering  also the distance of our country from the area, its not new to us that our government can’t do much. They are just depending from other powers ( U.S., China, France, Germany, etc) in protecting its own citizens. Last year, a total of 208 Filipinos on board 17 vessels were abducted by Somali pirates. The sad thing here is most of the seamen were released without any help from the government as usual.

The case of the the Philippine tanker MT Stolt Strength which until now remained stranded some 60 miles (100 kilometers) east of the Somali coast , after it was freed by pirates, is one example of a direct attack on philippines soil since the ship is a philippine flag vessel. But what can our government do is just coordinate and seek help from friendly countries to assist our seamen in time of distress.

After the much publized plight and rescue of American ship captain Richard Philips caught international attention, the government have finally decided to form a special task force to assist Filipino seafarers being held captive by pirates in Somali. That is almost after a year of continous attack on ships with Filifino seamen on board. A usual slow reaction of the government to the crisis. Its very hard to imagine that this OFW are not given the proper help by the government in spite of the fact that they are the ones that keep our economy afloat in face of the world wide recession.  Most of the  government actions are  politically motivated and some “papogi“or mere showing off since this isuue has caught international attention.

Kawawa talaga tayong mga OFW. Di tau aasikasuhin kung hindi controversial ang issue.
